HONESTY and the TRUTH
I believe and it is therefore my opinion that free speech using just the facts and actual truth is easier for people to accept and even admire over the long run than any litany of lies that we Americans may be conned into believing. The First Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” My understanding of the First Amendment – and thus it is my opinion which may or may not be fact or the whole truth:
1 - The United States Congress is prohibited from passing any law that may establish or prohibit the establishment of any religion nor can it prohibit the free exercise of any such religion. Maybe that is part of the reason that America has many questionable “religions” today. I have many examples in mind. I will pray that parents and our future children of America will have strong and positive religious upbringings. Let’s let God back into America. I believe the pendulum is swinging back in that direction.
2 – No law can abridge the freedom of speech, or of the press. While this may seem self-evident to Americans possessing “common sense,” my question remains – does this right allow me to spread the truth, and half-truths, and/or outright lies? Yes, no and no absolutely! And yet liars and purveyors of falsehoods seem to escape censure and even punishment like never before. Why was Anthony Fauci in a position of power, or Lois Lerner permitted to keep her pension, or Randi Weingarten still atop the American Federation of Teachers or Adam Schiff or George Santos still in Congress? My opinion? Failing to remove these morally bankrupt people is a tacit acceptance of their behavior that allows them to continue to wreak harm on our great Democratic Republic. And dare I utter my opinion about the collusion in the press and social media today? The major TV networks, the New York Times and the Washington Post are among the more egregious offenders today. They are doing everything in their power to hide the truth from America and the world. And when caught in actual lies (unfortunate misstatements they call them) they never apologize but only print a correction or retraction buried so deep you’d have to be Sherlock Holmes to find it.
3 – No law can abridge the “right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The violence in America today has origins in the belief that an opinion fervently believed to be a fact justifies the violent bad behavior of its adherents. I do not agree. I have not seen this country divided so obstinately against all reason and common sense since the 1960s.
